Aquaspace - Ecosystem approach to making space for sustainable aquaculture - is a EC Horizon 2020 project which aims at providing increased space for aquaculture to allow increased production.
The EC Horizon 2020 project AquaSpace aims at providing increased space for aquaculture to allow increased production, by identifying key constrains experienced by aquaculture development in a wide range of contexts and aquaculture types, taking into account all relevant factors and advised by a Reference User group. The central goal of the AquaSpace project is to provide increased space of high water quality for aquaculture by adopting the Ecosystem Approach Aquaculture (EAA) and Marine Spatial Planning (MSP) and so to deliver food security and increased employment opportunities through economic growth.
AquaSpace has four key Work Packages, in which CMR is mainly involved in the Work Package of “Develop and deliver tailored tools”. Based upon requests from relevant case studies, the AkvaVis system will be appropriately adapted, extended, and expanded in order to provide an appropriate tool for MSP in other culture areas.
