ABSTRACT:
Goodtech and Statnett SF have developed an online regularity calculator, with minimal delay between acquisition of process values and presentation of calculated regularity indices for the power grid. The simulation tool was put in operation in October 2013 for testing and bug fixing at Statnett’s operational central in Oslo. The system is connected to Statnett’s SCADA system and receives data every 10 minutes for all of the Norwegian and parts of the Swedish and Finnish power system. The simulation tool calculates the probability of failure on every component in the system and combined with a flow model, the power delivery reliability for every load branch.

In order to analyze and understand all the risk and reliability result produced every 10 minutes from the large network, a new representation of the changing
risk level must be developed and tested.
